Running to Prevent
Join me in trying to save lives, please give today.
Law enforcement officers and firefighters are more likely to die by suicide than in the line of duty. A survey of EMTs and paramedics in the U.S. found that 37% had contemplated suicide, and 6.6% had attempted it.
Several people very close to me have been personally affected by suicide. I know the lasting effects of grief it leaves on families, friends, and entire communities, sometimes through generations. A suicide never affects just one person.
The 50th Marine Corps Marathon in DC has been a meaningful opportunity for me to honor my family members who served in the Corps, especially my dad, who served not only as a Marine but also as a Wyoming Highway Patrolman. I’m hoping to give back, in some small way, to those like him who have sacrificed so much for us and our communities.
That’s why I’m joining Survive First’s peer-to-peer fundraising campaign for the Marine Corps Marathon. Survive First works to normalize conversations about mental health in the first responder community, reduce stigma, and ultimately save lives.
Funds raised will support Survive First’s efforts to:
- Provide education and training
- Offer financial assistance for treatment
- Expand outreach and awareness campaigns
- Develop wellness programs
Every dollar raised helps prevent suicides, strengthen mental health resources, and create a culture where first responders feel safe asking for help.
I truly appreciate you taking the time to read this. Please consider donating, even a small amount will go a long way in helping me reach my goal for Survive First.
